I have many favorite toys/hardware tools that I use and recommend. Some of them are available through my store here and others through the links provided.

The first recommendation is for a computer with the Apple logo on it. Most any will do a very good job. Spending more money on RAM is a better than paying a lot for a slightly faster processor. Their Cinema displays are excellent.

Wacom Cintiq 21 UXNR Graphics Tablet. This is the ultimate drawing tablet. The surface is a monitor so you can draw right on the screen.

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II. This SLR is only outdone by it's soon to be released big brother the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III. The mark II is 16.7 megapixels and uses all of the Canon professional EF line of lenses. The mark III will sport 21.5 megapixels and use the same lenses.

Canon Digital Rebel XTi. For those that can't afford the EOS 1Ds cameras, the Digital Rebel XTi is a great bet. it is just over 10 megapixels and can use the same lenses as it's big brothers in the EOS line. This is a great camera for someone who is serious about photography but not ready to spend over $1,000 for a camera.

Epson P-5000. This is a combination 80Gb portable hard drive and LCD display that allows you to connect a camera or many different types of card media for download without having to be tethered to a computer. It is really handy when you are on a trip where carying a notebook computer is impractical. You can empty your cards and verify your images on the go. Great for nature photographers and vacationers.

When it comes to lenses, I prefer the Canon L series. My personal favorites are:
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L wide angle zoom, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L standard zoom, Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS telephoto zoom (this one has an image stabilizer and is a great lens), Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS telephoto zoom (this one is not as fast as the 2.8 but is a lot lighter and less expensive), Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye (not an L series but a lot of fun), Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS super telephoto (this is a truley a canon), and of course if you get that one you will need the matching luggage.
